Which one are you?

Most of us revel in being unique, in that bit of difference that makes us stand out from the crowd.
How important is it we maintain our uniqueness?
Are we that different really?
In a crowd do we really stand out?

Who makes me unique? Me? Family, friends, associates? God?
So which one is you, or are you the one that got away...?

Seeking Wisdom

This morning I was seeking wisdom in proverbs, but when I came to sketching my pen wandered back to last night.

Puddles 2

Well, I did hear of two children way up near the border, who put on wellies, raincoats and umbrellas to searching out puddles for me. They made the muddy puddles with water from their paddling pool.

I could not draw them in rain coats, they might have suffered heat exhaustion!
I myself found interesting puddles, I spotted an oil puddle under a leaky car on the side of the road, then their was the spilt beer at the pub.
I wish I had been as enterprising as my two young friends.

Puddle Splashing

I received a prayer request today, signed off "Happy Puddle Splashing!"
What a wonderful visual aid and prompt to remind me to respond in prayer.
Puddle hunting's on the agenda tomorrow.

Facebook Headers

Made two pictures for Facebook Headers, my favourite must be for the shop with a cycling under grad. My wife thinks the bod reading his bible is reminiscent of An Alien at St Wilfred's
.

I think I rushed too much on this one, next time I will take more care.

Sustainable

I have only just discovered sustainable housing could be built from straw bails.

Littleport

Then on Wednesday I travelled north to meet up with Daughter no 1.
We sat by the river supping cider watching the swans and a few boats go by. Made me think of The Norfolk Broads.
Rather inspired by the pub logo, hence the swans in this sketch. The pub's called Swan By The River.

Thriplow

A delightful stroll through avenues of trees today, spitfire buzzing overhead practicing for the air-show. A good way to spend time with youngest-daughter-of-mine.

Are you fed up with always searching for the Remote Control?

I Was,

so I decided to switch places with the Remote Control and spent a day hiding from him instead.

Typical!

A Birthday Celebration

Such a special birthday celebration, Peter was 50, and decided to have a party. He invited all his guests to not only celebrate his birthday, but theirs also. We ate cake, feasted on pancakes, BBQ and much more whilst enjoying 20 or more artists from 4 up to 100 flex their music talents for our enjoyment, and in in God's Holy presence whilst enjoying the late evening sunshine.

Having had my fill of delicious fayre, I sat quietly listening to strains of piano, violin, voice... and doodled away. Most relaxing.

Thank you Heslam family for engineering such a delightful evening.

A Long Way...

In-complete. The picture is drawn, words yet to come.

The sign reads, "A Long Way", a windy road, maybe a destination just out of sight, possibly the beginning of something even longer. Was hard work getting to this point in the journey, maybe confusing, certainly exhausting.

What would suit the space I have left for words?

Pondering the Cross

Seated in my local bar, great Friday buzz all around me. Doodled before finishing my pint, ...

My Mum and Teddy...

Teddy, at the moment, is my Mum's constant companion. He sits at the end of her hospital bed and gazes wisely around, or snuggles up to Mum offering comfort and a soft cuddle.
Mummy has not named Teddy yet, she thought maybe 'Noj' as the foot is embroidered N° 1 Mum. But tonight she had different suggestions.
I drew this this afternoon, between wakeful moments as Mum snoozed regaining energy.

If you are someone who prays, take time to remember folk you may know who are ill or suffering at the moment, place your petition before God for their care and healing.

Giffilated

I spent a silly hour tonight giffilating one of my sketches so you could see how it built up.

Book Reading

Reading a book with letters printed on pages. Is this a thing of the past?

Mouse Juggling Elephants.

Like a mouse I feel I am juggling Elephants - so I drew this.

But then I thought, no, I am an elephant, huge in my own eyes,

juggled by an incredidibly skilled and modestly sized in his own eyes God - who also juggles many other outsized self inflated elephants.

God does not drop us.

Orchard Street, from memory

My childhood was spent running in and out of these doors, up and down the row of cottages.

Very much on my mind at the moment, not surprising my pencil began this sketch.

My sketch of Mum's Mouse Sketch

Right back to when I was very young, my Mum would draw the most delightful mouse to ornament cards, letters, notes - or just on his own.

Here is my tribute to Mum's mouse, and hoping she may draw many more.

Just recently my sister embroidered it onto some clothing for Mum, a wonderful idea, a great idea of how much this mouse has always meant to us.

Loch Ness Monster

Just had a text from someone I am writing to, they are en-route to Inverness. So I did this sketch mid letter. Now, either this is not Nessie, or Nessie is holidaying in a small lake.
The coach I imagined to be a 1940's rickety bouncy vehicle.

Later in the day I had a few minutes and a post it pad, Nessie was still going round in my mind. So Nessie and the Coach, Mark II.

Will I sketch any more Nessies before this this blog is scheduled to publish at noon Wednesday?

Snow on the Street - for Pa

Before Christmas I started a picture, but with two major events in our lives happening through this time I never got to complete. I think I will keep this half drawn sketch as it is to remind me of when my Pa died.
